Surrounded by the beauty of the Blue Ridge Mountains in Asheville, Ira L. Palmer draws inspiration for his writing and continues his lifelong dedication to service. After a highly impactful career directing the regional CDSA, Ira retired, leaving a legacy of improved services for children with developmental disabilities. His leadership emphasized a multidisciplinary approach to care, ensuring comprehensive support.

A Career Dedicated to Helping Others

Ira Palmer’s unwavering commitment to improving the lives of children and adults with developmental disabilities is evident in his leadership roles at the Children’s Developmental Services Agency (CDSA) and Vocational Rehabilitation Services. His advocacy work has significantly enhanced the support systems for individuals with disabilities, ensuring they receive the necessary services and resources to thrive.
Throughout his career, Ira has actively engaged in community development initiatives that promote social justice. As president of the Cabarrus Chapter of the NAACP and board chair of the Cabarrus Association for Retarded Citizens, he has championed equal rights and opportunities for marginalized groups, working tirelessly to address systemic inequities in his community.
His dedication to service extends beyond local advocacy, as he volunteers his time and energy for Share International, promoting awareness of spiritual teachings and the hope they offer to humanity.
